Elways, the Colorado steakhouse already popular in Denver’s downtown and Cherry Creek neighborhoods, is the newest of Vail restaurants. Situated in totally renovated space in the Lodge at Vail, Elways is bringing its 100% USDA Prime hand cut steaks to Vail Village in time for the ski season. The location puts it within a block of Vail Mountain’s Vista Bahn Express Lift.
Dinner and apres-ski guests can choose to dine indoors in the bar or main dining room, or outdoors on a covered patio or an open air one when weather permits. The color scheme of the restaurant is shades of brown and white and compliments the mountain views. The raw bar and the open kitchen lend an air of modern, comfortable, casual elegance.
That is exactly the vibe that John Elway, legendary quarterback of the Denver Broncos, and his partners want their restaurant to exude as they try to replicate the success of their other two locations. With an extensive wine list at fair prices and award winning food served with an attention to detail and a sense of warm hospitality, this addition to Vail restaurants should appeal to locals and those on a Vail vacation alike.
There are traditional steakhouse starters of beer battered onion rings and shrimp, crab and lobster cocktails. There is also the more creative lamb chop fondue, featuring the chops, cheese fondue and roasted sweet potatoes. John’s Salad, a house specialty, is a combination of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, onions and cheddar cheese atop iceberg lettuce served with green goddess dressing. Guests can then choose from a variety of hand cut prime steaks from rib eye to prime rib, fresh fish or cold water crustaceans. For those having difficulty deciding, there is an option of steak and cake, with the addition of a crab cake, or surf and turf, steak with a lobster tail. Sides, served a la carte, include classic steakhouse choices. In addition, lamb, pork and chicken dishes are available, as well as their famous 12 ounce Smashburger.
Make sure to include a dinner at Elways during your next Vail vacation.
