It’s been another excellent summer in Vail and the good times keep truckin away. Not only is the end of summer a wonderful time for all, the winter season is fast approaching and now is the perfect time to make travel plans for upcoming ski vacations. The autumn is gorgeous in the Vail Valley and with smaller crowds and better prices, it’s an excellent time to visit. 20th Anniversary Vail Jazz Party: August 28 – September 1

Jazz is nearly as American as apple pie. Originating in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century within African American communities of the Southern United States, jazz took the world by storm, inspiring inspiration and spontaneity in its listeners. It is now on full display in Vail with this excellent festival of world-class musicians. From group performances to multi-artist jam sessions and multimedia salutes to jazz legends, this weekend Labor Day Weekend Party attracts music lovers from all over the world. There will be 25 hours of performances that connect audience and musicians with this influential form of music that consistently inspires good times.

Gourmet on Gore: August 29 – September 1

Also on Labour Day Weekend is the wine and food festival called Gourmet on Gore, making the perfect complement to the jazz music. Returning for its ninth year, the main event will be a multi-day open-air food and wine tasting that takes places along Vail’s Gore Creek Drive and Bridge Street. You’ll have the opportunity to experience the best of the best in culinary talent and good eats along with the finest beverages to wash it all down. Come take part in the delightful epicurean atmosphere in Vail Village with mouth-watering tasting tours and a kids culinary corner. Fun for the whole fam-damily.

Vail Oktoberfest in Lionshead: September 5-7 / September 12-14

No need to travel to Germany when Oktoberfest is going off in Vail. Perfectly matched with the old-world architecture of the Colorado town, Vail is the perfect place to get your Munich and celebrate the blessing of beer upon the world. Bust out your lederhosen and dirndls and fill your steins with the best brews in the realm at this phenomenal tribute to the world’s most popular party. Two back-to-back weekends of Bavarian polka music, yodelling and dancing are here for your enjoyment as you get your bratwurst on between keg bowling and stein lifting events.

The America Cup Fly Fishing Tournament: September 9-14

Fishing lovers unite, this huge catch-and-release tournament is one of the biggest in North America. Competivie anglers from all over the world meet on the best trout waters in Colorado to compete in teams of five for gold and glory. Proceeds go to military veterans and to help promote the sport of fly fishing, an activity that Vail offers in abundance.

Opening Day of the 2014/2015 Ski Season: November 21

Come with your skis or snowboard or just rent them here and get ready to hit the slopes! The town will be celebrating in full force today.
