Q&A with Lion Square Lodge

Heart of the lion, king of the jungle, or just a big ol’ kitty cat? Any way you look at it, Lion Square Lodge is an excellent hotel that is sure to make most guests purr. Located in Lionshead Village, at the base of Vail Mountain with Gore Creek running through it, this recently updated property is a solid home-base to explore the region and its abundance of things to do and experiences to experience. You’re close to all the primo shopping, dining and entertainment – plus you’re right next to Eagle Bahn Gondola so you can have direct ski-in/ski-out access.

Lion Square Lodge is fresh off an extensive $53 million renovation, including significant interior and exterior upgrades throughout all three buildings, a new restaurant, new elevators, and several expanded units with beautiful balconies looking out at the slopes. The amenities are great, the service is top notch, and the entire experience is something that will make your visit to Vail one of the history books.

Q: What is the accommodation like?

A: The options range from cozy and inviting private hotel rooms to spacious, deluxe condominiums and villas. Even the most basic starter rooms are lovely, with wood trim and comfy beds, and it just gets better from there. The condo/villas come in one- to six-bedroom layouts, and while each of them offer something slightly unique, you can count on full kitchens, living rooms with leather couches and wood-burning fireplaces, creating a perfect home-away-from-home feel that you’ll love. It’s luxury living for your vivacious Vail vacation. Superb guest services include complimentary daily maid service and daily newspaper delivery, along with all the fine services you’d expect from a first-class hotel.

Q: What sort of resort amenities does Lion Square Lodge offer?

A: Complementing the gorgeous accommodation is a wealth of amenities that will make your stay effortless. There’s an outdoor heated pool to lounge around in the summer and swim in the steam in the winter, along with three outdoor hot tubs for that relaxing soak after a long day of activity. The Fitness Center features a state-of-the-art exercise room with free weights and cardio equipment to keep up your routine while away from home. Charter Sports on-site rents equipment for many activities throughout the year, with discounts for guests. And there’s an excellent concierge to take care of any questions and reservations you’d like to make while you’re there.

Q: How is the new restaurant?

A: The new restaurant is called El Sabor, featuring Latin-inspired dishes from Mexico, Central America, South America, and Spain. Serving up every meal of the day, El Sabor does a lunch menu themed after street cart fare and dinners like Snapper Veracruz. They make awesome margaritas and mojitos and the whole atmosphere is one you’ll enjoy snacking in and maybe knocking back a tequila or dos.

Q: How is it for hosting meetings and events?

A: They know what they’re doing when it comes to accommodating groups from 10 to 200. They offer a range of five meeting locations and 5,700 square feet of function space, with everything from small boardrooms to vast multi-purpose conference rooms. The staff at Lion Square Lodge are there to assist in the planning and catering of your event so you can rest assured it’ll all go off without a hitch.
