Vail Winter Events

The ski season is now officially upon us in Colorado, and the time is come to start making your winter vacation plans! Keystone and Breckenridge are already open and right around the corner is Vail (Nov 22) and Beaver Creek (Nov 27). Vail is currently in transition from summer playground to winter wonderland and there’s an excitement in the air as people get ready for the 51st season at the legendary resort. With so much to do, on and off the mountain, you’ll want to visualize how your dream getaway will transpire. In addition to the world-class dining, shopping, and activities, there are some monumental Vail winter events planned for the upcoming months.

Vail Snow Daze: December 9-15, 2013

Welcome to the largest early-season mountain festival in North America. Returning triumphantly to rave reviews for its seventh consecutive season, Vail Snow Daze transforms the town into a vibrant celebration of life, winter and abundance. Embrace the fresh power tracks and phenomenal skiing by day and let loose to après parties and free live concerts after sunset. So far, the music lineup includes Rebelution, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and Matisyahu, all sure to be excellent shows at the outdoor venue of Ford Park. Try out some new skis and boards at the sponsor expo village and then experience the best of Vail’s nightlife, Snow Daze is definitely worth planning your trip around.

Vail Family Holidaze: December 20-22, 2013

The subsequent weekend brings the Daze celebration to the entire family, with fun activities and events for the young and the young at heart. Grab a seat for some world-champion ice skating performances and be dazzled by the artful winter spectacle. Gather around the village’s massive Christmas tree for a light ceremony filled with wonder. The whole family will feel thankful here at one of the best of Vail winter events.

Vail NYE: December 31, 2013

Holidaze then returns for a grand finale on New Year’s Eve 2014. Ringing in new year at Vail’s biggest and best party of the year is none other than Beastie Boys’ own, Mix Master Mike. Dobson Arena will be going off with the hippest vibe, midnight balloon drops, confetti blizzards, champagne toasts and so much dancing and celebrating. So get your tickets early.

Beaver Creek Snowboarding

If you’re looking to ski more than a few days this season, be sure to grab your Epic Pass by November 24th! Not only do you save a lot of money if you’re skiing multiple days, you receive unlimited and unrestricted access to twelve separate resorts in Colorado, with no blackout dates. New this year is 5 free days at some of the Alps’ premier resorts in Switzerland, France, and Austria (in case you were wondering if you should ski Europe this season, as well).

Breckenridge kicked off its 2013/2014 season to a huge success, with much of the terrain open and more to come as the snow continues to fall. This season, Breck will also be celebrating the opening of it’s newest peak, Peak 6, which represents its largest terrain expansion in the past decade. Awesome skiing ahead at all the Colorado Rocky resorts.

Other stand-out events to look forward to in 2014 include the Burton U.S. Open (the longest-running snowboard competition in the world) in the first week of March, back for its second year at Vail after having relocated from the east coast. Vail Film Festival is at the end of the March and closing out the season in April is the Taste of Vail and Spring Back to Vail festivals. All amazing reasons to visit Vail.
