Vail is all about its world-class snow sports, but there’s a lot more to love about Vail Mountain than its skiing and snowboarding. Whether you’re an avid on-mountain adventurer or prefer to kick back and enjoy the stunning beauty of the Rocky Mountains, Vail is the perfect destination for non-skiers too!  Consider the following non-skiing activities to round out your spring break or anytime of the year Colorado vacation.

Play in the Powder at Adventure Park

You don’t have to put on skis to enjoy Vail Mountain. Open through mid-April, Adventure Ridge is a stadium-sized snow park with an adrenalin rush for all ages.

Start with the multi-lane tubing hill. Grab a tube and go – make it a family race challenge to get down the hill the fastest. Make it a bouncy day for one or two on the bungee trampoline.

Need for speed? Give your kids ages 6-12 a motorized mountain thrill cruising on the Blizzard Speedway in a mini-snowmobile. Perhaps you’d like to try a part ski, part bike adventure? Say hello to ski bikes, open to ages 10 and over.

Not ready to call it a day? No problem, How about exploring the winter wonderland with a sleigh ride to dinner, snowmobile tours, or dog sledding.

Your mountain fun isn’t over when the sun goes down. In fact, take your group to the family friendly Bistro Fourteen, for sit-down dining and a full bar at the top of Eagle Bahn Gondola. Feed your hungry crew or just sit back and enjoy the sunset with an après hot chocolate or something stronger for the adults in the group.

Outdoor Nordic Adventures

Located at the Vail Nordic Activities desk at the Gold Peak base area, get active with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing for ages 14 and up. With equipment rentals and both group and private classes, Everything you need is in one convenient location to put you sliding and gliding your way to exploring the surrounding wilderness and Colorado Rockies.

The Nature Discovery Center also offers family members a free guided snowshoeing tour to be wowed by the scenery. Daily morning snowshoe tours are also offered through the Vail Resorts Nordic School.

While you’re busy being active, keep your eyes open for wildlife spotting. Red fox, squirrels and other alpine critters are also busy on Vail Mountain.

Off-Road Motorized Adventures

Just you and your three best friends or family members surrounded by Colorado’s high country while riding in a four-seater, souped up ATV. Spectacular views on the 6,000 acres of private and intense terrain will elicit thrills and chills on this off-road adventure will awaken the passion for the Vail Mountain within minutes.

Ah-Spa?

Prefer to wind down from an active day on the slope. Make it a spa day with a luxuriously relaxing spa treatment. Several EnjoyVail preferred resorts feature world class spas.   Walk your weary but happy body just 150 yards from the gondola to the Vail Mountain Marriott Resort for your spa appointment.  The Arrabelle’s RockResorts Spa offers a 10,000 square foot facility, pampering men and women with mind-numbing treatments. The Vail Cascade and Resort has earned many accolades for its Aria Spa with its signature treatments inspired by the surrounding Rockies.

Around Town

The next best thing to being on Vail Mountain is the charming town itself. Ready, set, go on a walkabout in Vail, with its European-style architecture, fountains, statues, skating ice rinks, art galleries, live entertainment, and après ski. The finale for your amazing Vail vacation? Take those memories and make them permanent with plenty of photo-worthy views around every corner.
