Vail September Events

Vail September Events - Oktoberfest Summer’s peak may be behind us, yet the path towards the snowy winter season is in full force; which is to say, September is a prime time to visit Vail.  While you may know it as a dream ski destination, Vail is equally excellent in the late summer and early autumn, when the crowds are smaller and the price is right. Whether you’ve already booked your trip or you’re considering it, check out a few highlights of the September events in Vail. Make the most of the remaining days of warm weather before busting out the skis for what will undoubtedly be another epic season (opening day Nov. 22).

VAIL OKTOBERFEST: Sept. 6-8 / 13-15

Much of Vail already radiates with a distinctly Bavarian feel with its beautiful old-world architecture, and for a couple weeks in September it goes full Munich. The world famous Oktoberfest comes to the streets of Vail for a legendary celebration of beer, music and autumn. Bust out your lederhosen and dirndls and fill your steins with phenomenal beer at this awesome tribute to the world’s most popular party. Join in the festivities on Sept. 6-8 in Lionshead and Sept. 13-15 in Vail Village – it promises to be one heck of a shindig.

Emulating the more than two-century-old celebration that’s been attracting untold millions to Germany from around the world, Vail’s Oktoberfest delights guests for two jam-packed weekends of entertaining Bavarian music and dancing (featuring Vail’s own Helmut Fricker and the Rhinelanders Band rocking the house on the accordion and alphenhorn), mouthwatering traditional fare, yodeling, German brews, and lots of hilarious costumes. Oktoberfest 2013 will see the return of many popular events like bratwurst eating contests, Keg Bowling, Stein Lifting,  and the Oktoberfest Fun Run. If you can’t make it to Germany this year (or Kitchener, Ontario – Canada’s biggest Oktoberfest), then don’t miss out on the good times in Vail!
