The world’s best male and female snowboarders descend on Vail during the Burton U.S. Open, March 2-7.  The Village celebrates the world of snowboarding as spectators watch the half pipe and slope style competitions, but the fun doesn’t stop on the mountain.  Meet your favorite athlete during autograph sessions. Kick back with après all day, and kids (ages 3-6) are invited to daily Learn to Ride and Riglet events. You’ll also enjoy free concerts. It’s a festival of snowboarding and you’ll want to be here!

pink vailWait! Is that a skiing Pink panther? On Saturday, March 21, this Colorado Rockies mountain turns Pink Vail for the world’s biggest ski day and “pink” costume contest (with great prizes). At its highest 10,328 feet, the mountain is transformed into the pinkest rally against cancer you’ll ever experience. From 2 to 84, everyone is invited to participate or make a donation against cancer with proceeds benefiting Shaw Regional Cancer Center.  Friends and families will enjoy three on mountain concerts and deck parties. The finale is “Celebration Ski Down” when survivors, families and friends descend in honor of a loved one to the base of Lionshead Village, followed by food and drink specials at participating restaurant and bars.

The 12th annual Vail Film Festival arrives in town Thursday, March 26-Sunday, March 29, 2015, produced by the Colorado Film Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization dedicated to fostering independent cinema. Attended by thousands of experts, movie makers and fans, this four day cinema event is all about the film. Festival events include film screenings, panel discussions, live music, nightly galas, and the filmmaker reception.

Spring in the Colorado Rockies is a rite of passage in Vail. When skiers and snowboarders must admit that winter is over.  When it’s time for one last, or multiple lasts, zips down the mountain. That’s when Vail pulls out all the stops with the biggest end-of-season bash, Spring Back to Vail, April 17 – 19. We’re talking powder, fun and sun – and maybe a bit of splashing in the icy waters. Take your turn at the World Pond Skimming Championships, a Vail Closing Day tradition. Be a pond skimming athlete (warming up in a hot tub at the base between runs) or just watch the wet shenanigans from the sidelines. Penguins, Superman, and other characters are the creative costumes our fun-loving crowd wears for the Closing Day Costumes contest – and it’s quite a sight to see when they defy gravity while skimming across the water.  Free live concerts, après after-dark parties, base area giveaways, and more, keep the fun going well into the night in Vail. You don’t want to miss this, and Enjoy Vail has the perfect vacation package for you
