Why Stay at the Sonnenalp

Vail Sonnenalp CourtyardBavarian Bliss at the Sonnenalp
Gemütlichkeit means a warm hello.
Gemütlichkeit means come sit and relax
Gemütlichkeit means a comfortable place to be
Gemütlichkeit… what sets Sonnenalp apart.

The German influence is strong at the Sonnenalp Resort, where authentic European Alpine vibe is translated through years of providing the ultimate hotel experience. Through four generations, the Sonnenalp has grown into a world-class hotel, offering everything you could want in a Vail hotel: location, amenities, and renowned personal service. The owners, the Faessler family, are very hands on; especially Johannes, who works on site and who you will see throughout your visit eating in of the many restaurants chatting casually to guests and even helping out with the odd job here and there. Along with that special something, that feeling you get when you’re here, it all adds up to create an almost magic experience. Like the fabled Black Forest castles and fairy tales, modernized with that legendary German efficiency and attention to detail. All this and a staff that personalizes the Sonnenalp brand as they go above and beyond to make your visits to Vail and the Sonnenalp as relaxing and effortless as possible.

The Sonnenalp Resort is in the perfect location: smack dab in Vail village and a short jaunt from the lifts as well as some of the finest dining and shopping in the Rockies. The award-winning full service spa is huge and amazing; the perfect place to pamper yourself and indulge in some treatments that will invigorate your senses and have you feeling completely at ease. Hang out around the heated indoor/outdoor riverside pool with views of the mountains. Grab a book in the old-world library and feel the wisdom flow through you. Try out the private 18-hole golf course, one of the best in the state. There’s a games room for kids as well as one for teens. It’s also an excellent property for groups, with tons of conference space. Whatever you want you will find in graceful abundance at the Sonnenalp.
